We maintain data transparency in our management of state-funded scholarship programs, as well as in progress tracking towards our postsecondary attainment goals, to ensure equitable access to educational pathways to success for all our students regardless of age, income, race/ethnicity, or where they live.

The data resources provided here on the Michigan Office of Higher Education Data Sharing Center are either produced by our office, or our partners at Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI), Michigan House/Senate Fiscal Agencies, Michigan College Access Network (MCAN), Michigan Center for Data Analytics (MCDA), among others.

FAFSA Completion

To access state and federal student financial aid programs, students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Michigan receives FAFSA data from Federal Student Aid (FSA) and compiles information regarding the number of students that have either submitted or completed a FAFSA. We partner with the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN) to track FAFSA submission status of graduating seniors at each of Michigan’s public high schools.

Persistence and Attainment

The Michigan Office of Higher Education is committed to the success of our college students. We partner with the Center for Educational Performance and Information (CEPI) to track students as they apply to state aid programs, enroll in college, and complete their degree or certificate program. Using this data, the state is able to institute best practices, assess the efficacy of state aid programs, and move the needle closer towards the 60% credential attainment mark introduced by Governor Whitmer in 2019.

The Office of Higher Education partners with CEPI to publish a dashboard monitoring the state’s progress toward Sixty by 30. The Lumina Foundation also tracks Michigan’s progress toward reaching state goals on the Stronger Nation report.
