Rolling Rock Ranch Donates $27,000 to Benefit Veteran Members at Michigan Veteran Homes

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids (MVHGR) is honored to be accepting a $27,000 donation, with $25,000 directed to the charitable support fund which supports all three MVH communities (Chesterfield Township, Grand Rapids and Marquette), and a $2,000 in-kind donation towards the upcoming MVHGR Christmas Bingo Party to benefit veteran members. Leo and Valerie Martin, owners of the Rolling Rock Ranch in Hersey, along with Friends of Rolling Rock Ranch, the non-profit organization that hosts an annual pheasant hunt to benefit local veterans, are behind the generous donation. The donation will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at 2950 Monroe Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505.

“The Friends of Rolling Rock Ranch remain deeply grateful for the unwavering support from friends, family and our community who come together each year to make our event a success,” said Don Pyles, treasurer of Friends of Rolling Rock Ranch. “The incredible generosity of our donors and partners continues to amaze us, creating a truly honorable and special day for our heroes. As we celebrate our ninth year in 2024, we are proud to share that we have now donated over $267,000 to significantly enhance the quality of life for the heroes who call Michigan Veteran Homes their home.”

Friends of Rolling Rock Ranch was founded in 2016, after three friends and their spouses got together and discussed how to give back to the local community of veterans. While the founding members of the organization did not receive the call to serve in the military, each of their parents served proudly and fostered that passion for recognizing veterans for their selfless service.

Media are invited to attend to capture the check presentation and remarks by Friends of Rolling Rock Ranch President Brian Bennitt and Treasurer Don Pyles and should plan to be in place at the Grand River Room in the new Home no later than 1:45 p.m. Media are asked to kindly RSVP to Michael Kroll at 517-285-9734 or krollm2@michigan.gov.
