Michigan Veteran Homes to Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Veteran Home in Marquette Township

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes (MVH) and the Michigan Veterans Facility Authority (MVFA) Board of Directors will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new veteran home in Marquette Township at 9:30 a.m. on May 23 at Venture Drive in Marquette Township.
The groundbreaking ceremony will include remarks by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul D. Rogers, adjutant general and director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs; U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman; Anne Zerbe, executive director and CEO of MVH; Dave Henry, chairman of the board for the MVFA; Marquette Township Supervisor Lyn Durant; Ron Oja, administrator of Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti (MVHDJJ); and Brad Slagle, vice-chair of the MVFA and former administrator of MVHDJJ. The ceremony will include a posting of the colors led by the Michigan Army National Guard Military Funeral Honors Upper Peninsula Team with the National Anthem performed by MVHDJJ veterans Glenn Garrett and Tom Codd, with Tom’s son Marshall Codd, performing on guitar.

Venture Drive will be closed for the ceremony. General parking entry will be on the east end of Venture Drive, near the intersection of Cornerstone Drive and Venture Drive.
