Using the Roth 457 test environment

To help your reporting unit (RU) prepare for implementing Roth 457 reporting, the Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS) has created a reporting test environment (website). Your RU can use this test environment to test submitting your Wage and Contribution reports in the new reporting file format, designed for Roth 457 contributions. The test site will be available until Aug. 22, 2025.

Preparing for testing

To prepare for testing, we recommend you familiarize yourself with the Roth changes on the Employer Reporting website’s State of Michigan Roth 457 Accounts page.

Accessing the test environment

You can access the test environment here. From this page, click Login, then use the same username you use when normally submitting reports and payments. Use ESSpassword1 for the password.

The test site looks and appears to function like the regular reporting website, so be aware of which site you are logged into. You can ensure you’re using the test environment when you see orsuatext7 in the first part of your browser’s URL.

Test environment URL

Use this test site only for testing uploads in the new file format.
Batches will run nightly so you can tell whether your test report was accepted.

Submitting current reports and payments

Be sure you’re logged in to the normal reporting site with your regular username and password when submitting your current reports and payments. The new file format will not work for your current reports.

Beginning Aug. 25 the new file format will be required for all reports.

If you encounter issues or see a defect in how the site works, contact ORS_Web_Reporting@Michigan.gov. When contacting ORS, include screenshots and detailed information regarding the issue you’re reporting. Do not include complete Social Security numbers or other protected information.
