Veterinary Technician Examination

To be eligible for licensure and to take the VTNE examination, an application for licensure, fee and required documentation must be received in the Bureau of Professional Licensing, Licensing Division, by the deadline date indicated below.  Application packets can be downloaded from this website and mailed to:

The Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is administered in a computerized format.  There are three examination windows each year in which you may take the VTNE.  More detailed information about the computer based VTNE is available at

NOTE:  You are required to apply for your Michigan license before being eligible to take the VTNE exam.

VTNE will send you an Authorization-To-Test email for scheduling your exam after your application is processed by AAVSB and eligibility is confirmed by the State of Michigan, Bureau of Professional Licensing, Licensing Division.

Official score reports are accessible through MyAAVSB only. AAVSB does not mail or email scores. Candidates will be notified by email when scores have been posted on MyAAVSB. This will be approximately 4 to 5 weeks after the exam date. The jurisdiction selected on a candidate's VTNE application will also receive an official score report.  Scores cannot be rushed or given over the phone.
