Medical Marihuana Licensing Board to Receive Public Input on THC and Daily Purchasing Limits

Board members also seek public comment on financial and insurance requirements

October 16, 2017 – At a meeting of the Medical Marihuana Licensing Board (MMLB) tomorrow, board members will receive public comment regarding several issues as they continue to advise the Bureau of Medical Marihuana Regulation (BMMR) in the implementation of the regulatory framework for the new Medical Marihuana Facility Licensing Act (MMFLA).

The agenda will include public discussion on the following topics:

  • Licensing Financial Requirements (Capitalization)
  • Licensing Insurance Requirements
  • THC Limit for Marihuana-Infused Products
  • Daily Purchasing Limit

BMMR Director Andrew Brisbo: “I look forward to the opportunity to discuss the topics at hand and get some targeted, quality feedback from the public on several substantive issues.”

The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) – in consultation with the MMLB – is intending to release, in mid-November, emergency rules necessary for the initial implementation of the MMFLA. The emergency rules will further establish regulatory policies, including the application and licensing process and the fee structure.

During the board meeting, each of the five board members will report back to the entire board regarding the results and recommendations for each of the five workgroup meetings that took place in September:

  • Processor – Rick Johnson
  • Grower – Vivian Pickard
  • Provisioning Center – Donald Bailey
  • Safety Compliance Facility – Nichole Cover
  • Secure Transporter – David LaMontaine

The Medical Marihuana Licensing Board will meet in regular session on October 17, 2017 at 12:30pm in the Big Ten Conference Room A in the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center at 219 South Harrison Road in East Lansing, MI.
