Consumer Alert: Open Enrollment Has Begun and the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services is Ready to Assist with Health Insurance Questions and Concerns


Open enrollment for people who need to enroll or re-enroll in health insurance has started and the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) is here to answer questions you may have related to health insurance and your enrollment options.

Open enrollment on the Health Insurance Marketplace runs through December 15, with coverage beginning January 1, 2021. To review coverage options and enroll, consumers can visit the Health Insurance Marketplace at www.healthcare.gov or call the Marketplace Call Center at 800-318-2596 (TTY: 1-855-889-4325). Depending on income and their situation, consumers may qualify for cost sharing reductions, premium tax credits, or Medicaid.

DIFS can help you with health insurance questions, complaints, and shopping tips, and can help answer questions about special enrollment periods for those who need coverage for 2020 after experiencing a job loss or income reduction.
