HEALTHY HOMES SECTION (HHS)

Mission

To improve the health and wellbeing of Michigan citizens by promoting safe and healthy home environments through comprehensive home-based intervention programs, lead certifications and regulations, public education and outreach, and statewide partnerships.

Programs
  • Lead Safe Home Program (LSHP)

    • This program helps families identify and remove lead hazards from homes. 
  • Community Development
    • The Community Development Unit provides grant funds, technical assistance and oversight of lead hazard control services to local communities.  The purpose of this Unit is to expand lead hazard control in Michigan through community development. 
  • Certification, Enforcement, & Workforce Development
    • Together, these three areas work to build a competent lead professional workforce by:​
      • Certifying lead professionals through education and administering state certification exams. 
      • Monitoring and assisting certified lead professionals to ensure lead-safe work practices are followed.
      • Increasing the number of certified lead professionals in the State of Michigan.

CHILDHOOD LEAD POISONING PREVENTION PROGRAM (CLPPP)

Mission

To prevent childhood lead poisoning across the state through surveillance, outreach and health services.

Vision

No child in Michigan suffers from lead poisoning.
