The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy’s (EGLE) Water Well Viewer (WWV), is an interactive mapping system that displays water wells along with other information, such as wellhead protection areas, underground storage tanks, and sites of environmental contamination. Water well locations have been identified by address matching, the use of global positioning systems (GPS), and by legal descriptions.
This system allows water well drilling and pump installation contractors to submit water well records.

This number is calculated from the highest lead sample from each site taken within a water system during a monitoring period. If your water supply’s 90th percentile number is over the action level, your community has a lead Action Level Exceedance (ALE) and must take corrective action. If a water supply had an ALE, its 90th percentile will be red in the report.
On January 1, 2025, the lead action level in Michigan was reduced from 15 ppb to 12 ppb. 90th percentiles calculated for samples collected before January 1, 2025, were subject to the 15 ppb lead action level. The lead action level will be reduced to 10 ppb on November 1, 2027.
This date gives you an idea when the water supply tested for lead. It technically means the final day of the water supply’s scheduled monitoring period. Samples can be collected at any time during this period.
Some community water supplies have multiple, separate distribution systems. This ID tells you which distribution system was sampled.
