Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township Ranked #1 Nursing Home in the State of Michigan
September 24, 2025
LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township (MVHCT) was ranked the #1 Nursing Home out of 422 Homes in the State of Michigan based on nursing home survey information collected by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL).
“Our focus has always been on delivering exceptional care and enhancing the quality of life for the veterans we proudly serve,” said Anne Zerbe, executive director and CEO of Michigan Veteran Homes (MVH). “While nursing home surveys are designed to assess compliance with a wide range of state and federal regulations — and we take that responsibility seriously — our greater mission is to go beyond compliance. This accomplishment, while not a measure of perfection, reflects our team’s unwavering commitment to excellence in care and to creating a supportive, dignified environment where veterans can thrive. We are incredibly proud of this achievement and even more motivated to keep raising the standard.”
“This achievement belongs to our TEAM — a group that works collaboratively across all areas to make this home a place where veterans truly want to be,” said Jennifer Manning, administrator of MVHCT. “It takes every one of us, and we’re incredibly proud of those who made this possible. If you see one of our staff members or contracted partners out and about, be sure to tell them ‘Great job,’ because that’s exactly what they’re doing for Michigan veterans and their families.”
In the same survey scoring system, Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids (MVHGR) and Michigan Veteran Homes D.J. Jacobetti (MVHDJJ) were ranked #11 and #19, respectively, which ranks them in the top 5% of all Homes surveyed.
This follows recognition earlier this year by the AHCA/NCAL where MVH received a 2025 Bronze – Commitment to Quality Award for each of its three homes: MVHCT, MVHGR and MVHDJJ. The awards program recognizes organizations that meet progressively rigorous standards of quality to improve the lives of their residents. The AHCA and NCAL represent more than 15,000 nursing homes and long-term care facilities across the country.
MVH has also received a Five-Star Quality Ranking from CMS for MVHCT, MVHGR and MVHDJJ. The overall rating is based on a nursing home's performance on three sources: health inspections, staffing and quality measures. The Five-Star Quality Ranking places MVH in the top 10% of all Homes across Michigan.
