Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township Veteran Member Donates $10,000 to Benefit Fellow Members at Home

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township (MVHCT) is honored to be accepting a $10,000 donation from U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran Member and Purple Heart Recipient George Kenney. The donation is directed to the charitable support fund which supports life enrichment activities that improve the quality of life for members at MVHCT. The donation will be presented on Friday, Oct. 10 at 10:30 a.m. at 47901 Sugarbush Rd., Chesterfield Twp., MI 48047.

"We are blessed to serve those men and women who've served us,” said Jennifer Manning, administrator for MVHCT. “This gift is remarkably humbling and a testament to the Home, staff, volunteers and veterans we serve. This act of generosity by one of our own veterans essentially says, 'the care and quality of life I'm experiencing here, it's the experience veterans deserve and it's worth investing in.' We are so grateful for the work we're able to do and the impact we're able to have on veterans' lives."

“If George didn’t live there, he wouldn’t be alive,” said Mark Kenney, who is George’s brother and is joining for the presentation of the donation. “MVHCT saved his life, and he has a purpose now.”
