Roth 457 test environment is available

To help your reporting unit (RU) prepare for implementing Roth 457 reporting, the Michigan Office of Retirement Services (ORS) has created a reporting test environment. This is now available for your RU to test your Wage and Contribution files using the new reporting file format, designed for Roth 457 contributions. You can access the test environment until Aug. 22, 2025. In the test environment, click Login, then use the same username you use when normally submitting reports and payments. Use ESSpassword1 for the password.

While testing, ensure you’re using the test environment only for uploads in the new file format. You should see orsuatext7 in the first part of your browser’s URL.

To prepare for testing, we recommend you familiarize yourself with the Roth changes on the Employer Reporting website’s State of Michigan Roth 457 Accounts page.

Batches will run nightly so you can tell whether your test report was accepted.

Be sure you’re logged in with your regular username and password when submitting your current reports and payments. Be aware the new file format will not work for your current reports (except in the test environment) until Aug. 25, 2025. On that date the new file format will be required for all reports.

If you encounter issues or see a defect in how the site works, contact ORS_Web_Reporting@Michigan.gov. When contacting ORS, include screenshots and detailed information regarding the issue you’re reporting. Do not include complete Social Security numbers or other protected information.
