Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG)

Storage and Handling of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) Rules were revised and filed with the Secretary of State on July 7, 2008.  The provisions of the National Fire Protection Association Pamphlet No. 58, 2004, entitled "NFPA 58 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code 2004 Edition," are incorporated by reference and adopted as part of these rules. The regulations cover containers where individual capacity is over 2,000 gallons, aggregate capacity over 4,000 gallons, or any size container filling location. Liquefiedpetroleum tanks used in connection with building heating systems and equipment have a dual administration by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and the Michigan Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth. A Memorandum of Understanding  clarifies the responsibility and requirements of each agency.
