Temporary Practice Permit

Article 26 of the Occupational Code allows individuals licensed in another state to apply to Michigan for a temporary permit to do appraisals that are federally related. A temporary permit is valid for 180 days. The applicant must submit an application for a temporary permit, along with a fee of $125.00. The application requires a written description of the appraisal assignment, and a Consent To Service of Process form. A search of the National Registry will allow verification of the applicant's good standing. Only in situations where an applicant's status cannot be verified on the National Registry will the Department request that the applicant provide certification of license from the applicant's home state.

A temporary permit application may be obtained by calling the board office at (517) 241-9201, requesting the materials in writing, via e-mail to bcslic@michigan.gov or by downloading the application from the Forms and Publications page.
