The Michigan Public Service Commission reminds interested stakeholders that the second day of its two-day technical conference addressing concerns raised after repeated major power outages across the state during extreme storms this summer will be on Friday, Nov. 5.
Day 2 of the MPSC's Technical Conference on Emergency Preparedness, Distribution Reliability, and Storm Response will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 5. The conference is open to the public, which is invited to observe the presentations and panels.
There are two ways to participate in the event, being conducted by videoconference:
The conference is exploring the scale and degree of necessary improvements as well as regulatory and technological solutions to improve electric reliability, with a focus on efforts that address environmental justice, equity, and cost to customers. The conference features panels and presentations by MPSC Staff and stakeholders including representatives of consumer advocacy and environmental groups, Michigan's regulated utilities, small businesses, emergency responders, and communities impacted by repeat outages.
