Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township Hosts First Annual Armed Forces Day 5K

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes at Chesterfield Township (MVHCT) hosted their first annual Armed Forces Day 5K and 1K on May 21, 2022 on the campus of the home at 47901 Sugarbush Rd., Chesterfield Township. The 1K which began at 9 a.m. was reserved for veteran members and their guests with volunteers and staff participating while the 5K began at 10 a.m. and attracted local community members as spectators and race participants.
The home would like to thank the following community partners for helping raise over $2,000 to stage the event and waive all registration fees: American Graphics Printing in Clinton Township; The Center for Therapeutic Learning and Communication in Chesterfield; Therapy Management Inc. in Pontiac; Royal Oak American Legion Auxiliary Post #253; MGM Dumpsters in Ira; and C.A.R.O.L.S Army Corp. in Chesterfield.
Remarks were provided by Samantha Razminas, activities director for MVHCT. Bryon “Kip” Brand, a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, resident member and president of the MVHCT Member Council led the countdown to start the run/walk.
The home also received over $1,800 in generous donations from family members, staff and race participants including a check for $400 from VFW Post 7573 Auxiliary in New Baltimore. These donations will support the life enrichment fund which is used to improve the quality of life for members.
