Michigan Veterans Facility Authority Welcomes New Board Member

LANSING, Mich. — The Michigan Veterans Facility Authority (MVFA), a ten-member board that governs Michigan Veteran Homes, is pleased to welcome Leon Bauer, of East China, as its newest board member.

Prior to his retirement, Mr. Bauer served as the regional director of operations for Midwest Care Facilities. He was a sergeant and noncommissioned officer of the U.S. Army as well as a registered nurse. Mr. Bauer received his associate degree in nursing from St. Clair Community College and his nursing home administrator certificate from Michigan State University. He was appointed by Gov. Whitmer, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to represent the interests of one or more congressionally chartered veterans' organizations. He will serve for a term commencing on December 21, 2023 and expiring on April 15, 2025.
 
The MVFA is still seeking to fill two additional seats on the board, from nominations of the Speaker of the House and of the Senate Majority Leader. Board members will serve a four-year term.
