Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids Volunteers to Plant 5K Flags in Cemetery to Honor Heroes

LANSING, Mich. — Michigan Veteran Homes at Grand Rapids, in partnership with Scouts of America and the UPS Veterans Business Resource Group (VBRG), and community members will place more than 5,400 American flags at the gravesites of Michigan veterans at the Home’s cemetery in preparation for Memorial Day weekend.

Refreshments and hot dogs will be sponsored and served by the UPS VBRG from 5-6 p.m., followed by a brief ceremony and then the planting of the flags by Scouts and community volunteers. The event will conclude by 7 p.m. with a final salute and a performance of Taps. The West Michigan Chapter of the Michigan State Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will be presenting the colors.

5 p.m. refreshments and hot dogs
6 p.m. presentation of colors, remembrance ceremony, followed by flag placement and concluded with TAPS
