Mi-Key
Mi-Key is an integrated system that maintains a single unique identifier for individuals in the education sector and uses advanced matching to let us connect education data records over time, including student (early childhood through postsecondary) and educational personnel, resulting in reduced reporting burdens and increased efficiency.
In late 2025, Mi-Key will be integrated into REP. This initial integration will transfer PIC generation to Mi-Key, which includes identifier/demographic matching. PIC processing will continue to perform as it does today, with minimal impact to users. Further integration with other state systems, such as MiEdWorkforce, will follow.
This backend system will contain the state-recognized education identifier and be the source of truth for the identifier and a limited set of demographics.
