Eligibility

To qualify for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship, you must:
- Be a Michigan resident for at least the immediately preceding year.
- Have graduated from high school with a diploma or a certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.
- Have not yet earned an associate or bachelor’s degree.Have not yet earned a degree, certificate, or other credential with this scholarship.
- Enroll at an eligible institution within 15 months of high school graduation or earning a high school equivalency certificate.

Yes, as long as the student graduates from high school with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after and has not yet received a degree.

Home-schooled students may be eligible if the institution accepts the home-school documents as proof of high school completion.

Students can participate in both pathways in the same academic year. However, students cannot participate in both in the same academic term.

Yes, students who graduate from high school with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after may be eligible regardless of age.

- Find an eligible career training provider that's right for you!
- Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application in the MiSSG Student Portal.
- Enroll in an eligible career training program.
Note: Be sure to give the provider of the career training program proof of your high school diploma, certificate or completion or equivalent.

Students are eligible to receive up to $2,000 per academic year, up to two years, unless a student receives a credential with this scholarship first. Please note that a student cannot use the scholarship at the same training provider a second time.

No, FAFSA completion is not a requirement for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship.

There is no age requirement as long as you are a graduate from high school with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.
