Am I eligible for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship?
To qualify for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship, you must:
- Be a Michigan resident for at least the immediately preceding year.
- Have graduated from high school in Michigan with a diploma or a certificate of completion or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.
- Have not yet earned an associate or bachelor’s degree.
- Have not yet earned a degree, certificate, or other credential with this scholarship.

Are Early Middle College (EMC) students eligible for the Michigan Achievements Skills Scholarship?Yes, as long as the student graduates from high school in Michigan with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after and has not yet received a degree.

Are home-schooled students eligible for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship?Home-schooled students may be eligible if the institution accepts the home-school documents as proof of Michigan high school completion.

Can I participate in both Michigan Achievement Scholarship pathways at the same time?
No, students cannot participate in both pathways in the same academic year.
However, if you participate in the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship pathway and graduate, you could be eligible to continue to attend College/University with the Michigan Achievement Scholarship for up to 3 or 4 years.

Do I qualify if I am an adult or alternative education student who is over the age of 18?Yes, students who graduate from high school in Michigan with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after may be eligible regardless of age.

How do I receive the scholarship?
- Find an eligible career training provider that's right for you!
- Complete the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship application in the MiSSG Student Portal.
- Enroll in an eligible career training program.
Note: Be sure to give the provider of the career training program proof of your high school diploma, certificate or completion or equivalent.

How often can students receive this scholarship?Students are eligible to receive up to $2,000 per academic year, up to two years, unless a student receives a credential with this scholarship first.

Is completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) a requirement for Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship?No, FAFSA completion is not a requirement for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship.

Is there an age requirement to receive the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship?There is no age requirement as long as you are a graduate from a Michigan high school with a diploma, certificate of completion, or achieved a high school equivalency certificate in 2023 or after.

What is the time period for an “academic year” defined as for the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship?An academic year is September 1 through August 31.
