Important: Roth 457 account rollout postponed
August 15, 2025
Michigan Office of Retirement Services sent this bulletin at 08/15/2025 11:30 AM EDT
The date for rolling out the Roth 457 account option has been postponed. That means your reporting unit (RU) has more time to test your reports that use the Roth 457 file layout.
If you have still not tested a report using the Roth 457 file layout, please do so soon. For information or help with testing your reports, visit Using the Roth 457 test environment.
The most common problem we’ve seen — for RUs who tested a file that failed to load properly — is an extra line below the footer of the report. If your file fails to load correctly, this is the first thing to check (or have your vendor check).
When submitting current reports (not testing), continue to use the current file format (logged in to the Reporting website with your regular username and password). We'll notify you when to begin using the new file format that includes fields for Roth 457 contributions.
For more general information about the Roth 457 option, see the State of Michigan Roth 457 Accounts resource page on the Employer Information website. If you encounter issues or see a problem in how the test site works, contact ORS_Web_Reporting@Michigan.gov.
