POSITION SUMMARY:
The City of Northville Police Department is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates to fill one open police officer position. The department is looking to fill this position as soon as possible.
The City of Northville Police Department provides policing services to approximately 6,000 residents over an approximately two square mile area. Northville is home to many annual festivals, parades and special events throughout the year and has a vibrant downtown area. The Police Department endeavors to place a focus on community policing and crime prevention while providing continuing training and educational opportunities to their personnel.
The City of Northville Police Department is seeking to fill a full-time police officer position. The Department’s current structure consists of a Chief, a Captain, three Sergeants, a Detective, a School Safety Administrator, seven Police Officers and a full-time Records Clerk. The Department contracts for Dispatch and Lock-up services from the Northville Township Police Department. The department currently operates on a 12-hour shift schedule.
The City of Northville Police Department provides a competitive salary and benefit package. Salary range: $63,423.00 (starting pay) to top pay reaching $90,068 after four years (including educational incentive) and based off 2184 annual hours.
The City of Northville currently offers Lateral Transfer hiring. Any incoming employee who is a current police officer will be granted service credit toward reaching top pay. Please inquire for details.
The Department prefers applicants to have a minimum of an associate degree in law enforcement or a related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education. Applicants must be MCOLES certified/certifiable, and be at least 21 years of age. Applicants will be selected by an oral board and should be prepared to undergo a comprehensive background investigation, credit check, physical and psychological examination. The selected applicant must meet all MCOLES requirements, successfully complete a Field Training Program and a one-year probationary period.
