MITN Operator Training

The Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) offers MCOLES Information and Tracking Network (MITN) operator training for designated agency operators who have been authorized by a law enforcement agency to become a MITN Operator.

To become a MITN operator for your agency you must:

  1. Complete the MITN Operator Training via MI-TRAIN and print the training certificate.

Training Registration Code: MITNOP

This course will go over navigating in MITN, agency profile and access, hiring and licensing candidates, agency rosters, separation from employment, Public Act 128 of 2017, change in law enforcement authority, in-service training and annual registration. At the completion of this training you must take and pass a short knowledge check quiz with 80% to receive your certificate of completion.

If you do not already have a MI-TRAIN account, you will be required to create an account. When creating an account, you should add Michigan State Police as an affiliate. In order to launch the training you will need the registration code, please contact MCOLES at MSP-MCOLES-Licensing@michigan.gov for the registration code.

  1. Send a copy of the training certificate along with a completed MCOLES Information and Tracking Network (MITN) Operator Agreement to MCOLES by email at MSP-MCOLES-Licensing@michigan.gov or by fax to 517-636-7886.

Removing MITN Access

If your agency previously designated an individual as an Operator and you no longer want that person to retain access to the Network, you must rescind that person's Network User ID by either:

  • The preferred method is for the Key MITN operator to remove the person's access in MITN. After submitting the removal in MITN the Key MITN Operator should print the report, obtain the proper signatures, and email the form to MCOLES at msp-mcoles-licensing@michigan.gov or fax it to 517-636-7886.
  • Alternatively, you can print and complete the User Agreement Addendum, obtain the proper signatures and email the form to MCOLES at msp-mcoles-licensing@michigan.gov or fax it to 517-636-7886.
