POSITION SUMMARY:
The Kalkaska Department of Public Safety is seeking a full-time (40-hours/weekly) MCOLES certified or certifiable Police Officer. Pay for certified officers will range from $21.49/hour to $29.44/hour depending on experience. The Kalkaska Department of Public Safety would consider sponsoring the right candidate. Top pay for officers is $29.44/hour currently and will be $31.23 in March of 2026. Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, an associates degree or greater in Criminal Justice or related field and/or completion of a State of Michigan accredited Police Academy training program. The applicant must have good interpersonal-public relation skills and be able to work a variety of shifts including holidays and weekends. Applicant must be a Michigan resident, no felony convictions, have a good driving record and be at least 21 years old. - Be a Michigan Resident
- Possess a valid Michigan drivers license with good driving history
- MCOLES license
- Possess an associate degree in criminal justice or related field from an accredited college and successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation, medical examination and drug screen.
