Applying for a Child Care License
Before You Start
- Please note that application fees cannot be refunded once submitted.
- If you’re looking to apply as a License-Exempt Provider (sometimes called Relative Care), visit the Providers page. There is no application fee for License-Exempt applications.
Tips for Applying
- Before you start the application, check out the Step by Step Guide to Licensure.
- Read the Licensing Rules for Family and Group Child Care Homes or the Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers and 1973 PA 116 before submitting your application. Also see the Important Notice below regarding reimbursement from MDHHS.
- To apply for a new license or renew a license, select the link applicable to you below for more detailed instructions:
- When you’re ready to apply, go to MiLogin to begin your application. You might find the MiLogin Registration Instructions video helpful to navigate the website.
CCHIRP Setup
- We have created two CCHIRP help documents—How to Set Up a MiLogin Account and CCHIRP Portal and MiLogin Tips for CCHIRP Users—to guide you through getting CCHIRP setup.
- Only updated Internet Explorer, FireFox or Google Chrome browsers are compatible with MiLogin. You might be required to add "Michigan.gov" to your compatibility view settings for the application to be submitted successfully.
