January 30, 2026: Narcotic Teams/Task Force Grant Funding Update

Dear Law Enforcement Community,

Beginning January 10, 2026, the Commission will accept applications for training and equipment funding related to the Narcotic Teams/Task Force Grant contained in PA 166 of 2022.The Commission developed this grant process with assistance from a subject matter expert group.

The Narcotic Teams/Task Force Grant includes $3 million for the purpose of furthering the investigation and interdiction of illegal narcotics. Agencies and entities that operate multi-jurisdictional full-time narcotics task forces are eligible to apply for funds.

This grant is a one-time appropriation and will expire on September 30, 2026.

Completed grant applications will be considered in the order they are received. The grant review and approval process will be in two phases. The first phase begins on January 20, 2026, and ends on April 1, 2026. During this phase there will be a $60,000 cap on grant awards per entity.

The second phase will begin April 2, 2026, and end August 14, 2026, or until the fund has been depleted. The Commission will determine the specifics for second phase grant awards based on remaining funds.

Grant funds may be used for equipment purchases, however, cannot include ongoing maintenance, service, or other legacy costs, including but not limited to extended warranties, software updates, or annual service contracts.

Grant funds may be used for training purposes delivered in the state of Michigan, however, may not include benefits, wages, per diems, etc. Please see the request form for additional information.
