Scholarship and Grant Programs

The state of Michigan offers a variety of scholarships and grants for students. Take a look at our program detail pages for more information and to see which ones you may be eligible for.

Children of Veterans Tuition Grant

 The Children of Veterans Tuition Grant (CVTG) provides tuition assistance to the natural or adopted children of qualified totally and permanently disabled, deceased, or missing in action (MIA) Michigan veterans.

Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment allows nonpublic high school students to take up to ten dual enrollment classes in 9th through 12th grade.

Fostering Futures Scholarship

The Fostering Futures Scholarship provides scholarships to students who have experienced foster care in Michigan on or after age 13.

Futures for Frontliners

Futures for Frontliners (F4F) is a State of Michigan scholarship program for frontline workers; Michiganders who worked in essential industries during the state COVID-19 shutdown in spring 2020.

High School Graduate

Michigan Achievement Scholarship

 Beginning with graduates of 2023, the Michigan Achievement Scholarship will be available to students in the 2023-24 school year and beyond.

Michigan Competitive Scholarship
The Michigan Competitive Scholarship is available to undergraduate students pursing their first degree who graduated high school (or its equivalent) before 2023. This scholarship is based on both financial need and merit.

MI Future Educator Fellowship

The MI Future Educator Fellowship will offer a $10,000 scholarship to up to 2,500 future educators every year.

MI Future Educator Stipend

The MI Future Educator Stipend is a $9,600 stipend to support Michigan’s hardworking student teachers as they continue their journey to being in the classroom full-time.

MI GEAR UP

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a Federal program designed to provide early intervention services and programs to students in middle school and high school.

Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver
The Michigan Indian Tuition Waiver is a program enacted by Public Act 174 of 1976, which waives the tuition costs for eligible Native Americans in public community colleges or universities within Michigan.

Michigan Reconnect

Michigan Reconnect is a scholarship program that pays for students 21 and older to attend their in-district community college and offers a large tuition discount if students attend an out-of-district community college. Apply by Nov. 15, 2024 to take advantage of the 21-24 age expansion.

Michigan Tuition Grant
The Michigan Tuition Grant (MTG) is available to undergraduate Michigan residents with financial need who plan to attend or are attending a Michigan degree-granting, non-profit independent college and who received a paid MTG award in 2023-24 or prior.

Police Officer's and Fire Fighter's Survivor Tuition Grant

The Police Officer’s and Fire Fighter’s Survivor Tuition Grant provides for the waiver of tuition at a Michigan community college or public university for children and surviving spouses of Michigan police officers and fire fighters killed in the line of duty.

Tuition Incentive Program

The Tuition Incentive Program encourages students to complete high school by providing college tuition assistance after graduation.
