MSI offers high quality and competitively priced PRODUCTS generated by adults in custody who gain work training and experience as they prepare for re-entry into society.

 

MSI Apparel

MSI has provided MDOC, 501(c)3 Organizations and State agencies with quality products and services for over 50 years.  MSI garment operations manufacture MDOC uniforms, prisoner clothing and a variety of other products. The range of its capabilities includes safety apparel, coats, jackets; jumpsuits; coveralls; overalls; rainwear; ballistic/tactical, and maintenance apparel; county jail clothing; pajamas; healthcare scrubs; uniform shirts and trousers, and t-shirts.  Additionally, the garment operations produce briefcases; duffle bags; ERT team bags; robotic arm covers; infant supplies; embroidery and American flags.

Employee Club & Promotional Products

MSI offers a wide range of Custom, Specialty, Fundraising, and Promotional Products for MDOC Employee Clubs, State Agencies, and 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organizations.  Specialty products include school and business booster fundraising plates, coasters, novelty bird houses, bags, hats, laser-cut wood products such as desk nameplates, kitchen cutting boards, and lazy Susan's.  The shop also offers custom vinyl products (binders/notebooks), acrylic awards, plaques and nametags.

Mattress Products

The MSI Mattress Factory  produces innerspring, densified polyester, foam-core and fiber-core mattresses. The shop also makes  mattress pads, pillows, shower curtains, mesh laundry bags, jump suits, and maintenance wear. These products can satisfy the needs of confinement care, health-care, educational, or recreational environments.

Shoes & Work Boots

The MSI Shoe Shop makes a range of both prisoner and uniform shoes and accessories.  The operation serves the needs of the MDOC population, manufacturing leather oxford shoes and boots for both prisoners and MDOC custody staff.  They also produce orthopedic shoes as directed by a prescription from MDOC Healthcare staff, as well as athletic shoes for prisoner purchase and leather belts for MDOC correctional officers.

Janitorial Operations

MSI Janitorial Operation recently relocated to a new location at the Parnall CF, Jackson, MI.  A wide range of commercial cleaning products is professionally formulated, produced and packaged using state-of-the-art equipment.  Products offered include air & laundry fresheners, cleaning chemicals, and ware washing products for MDOC facilities, Counties, Townships, State Agencies and 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizations.

Optical Services

MSI's Optical Laboratory services the needs of the MDOC population, and offer technical training and certification to their prisoner employees. 
The lab is supervised by a Trades Instructor under an agreement to provide optical wear for all MDOC prisoners and staff.  MSI pays for prisoners to take the test required to earn their American Board of Opticianry Certification.

Signage

The MSI Sign Shop offers a variety of outdoor and indoor signage for state agencies, as well as sign restoration and recycling services designed to significantly reduce the cost of highway signage. Signs are restored to "like-new" condition. The Sign Shop's  capabilities also include specialty signage, decals,  labels, 3D laser-engraved signage, large-scale sand-blasted signage, and banners.
