Signage Operations
The MSI Sign Shop offers a variety of outdoor and indoor signage for state agencies, as well as sign restoration and recycling services designed to significantly reduce the cost of highway signage. Signs are restored to "like-new" condition. The Sign Shop's capabilities also include specialty signage, decals, labels, 3D laser-engraved signage, large-scale sand-blasted signage, and banners.

Through employment with MSI, prisoners at the Sign Shop develop both hard (industry-specific) and soft (social) skills, preparing them for
employment after incarceration.
Soft Skills: Decision Making, Communication, Teamwork, Reliability, Accountability, Punctuality, Adaptability, Listening, Literacy/Numeracy.
Hard Skills: Machine Operation, Machine Maintenance & Repair, CNC Programming, Shipping & Receiving, Office Clerk, Silkscreen Processing, Graphic Design, Coating & Decorating, Photographic Processing, Stock Handling.

Shoe Operations
The MSI Shoe Shop makes a range of both prisoner and uniform shoes and accessories. The operation serves the needs of the MDOC population, manufacturing leather oxford shoes and boots for both prisoners and MDOC custody staff. They also produce orthopedic shoes as directed by a prescription from MDOC Healthcare staff, as well as athletic shoes for prisoner purchase and leather belts for MDOC correctional officers.
