Christyn Herman, Public Affairs Officer
As Public Affairs Officer, Christyn works closely with MVAA leadership to strategically communicate the mission, vision and goals of the agency.
With extensive experience in government communications and a passion for public service, she has worked to improve the government services for the benefit of all Michigan residents.
Christyn spent 14 years with DTMB and the State Budget Office (SBO), coordinating the external communications for state employees and the public. Her responsibilities included developing communications about the information technology, business and administrative services to Michigan residents, businesses, state agencies, state employees and retirees.
Prior to joining SBO, Christyn was a critical part of the Michigan Economic Recovery Office in Gov. Granholm’s Administration, ensuring Michigan’s compliance and the reporting of over 600 American Recovery & Reinvestment Act grants totaling over $11 billion.
Christyn holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Lake Superior State University and a master’s in communications from Grand Valley State University.
Originally from northern Michigan, Christyn lives in Lansing. She is a devoted aunt and loves spending time with family and friends, reading and watching the Red Wings, Tigers and Lions.
