Caregiver Resources
The VA offers two programs in caregiver support: Program for Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC) and Program for General Caregiver Support Services (PGCSS).
PCAFC provides a financial stipend to eligible caregivers to provide personal care to a veteran who is enrolled in the VA health care system. The identified caregiver can be a family member, friend, or non-family member who meets the criteria to participate.
PGCSS is designed for caregivers who provide personal care to a veteran enrolled in the VA health care system. PGCSS provides educational programs, resources and support groups.
Each VA Medical Center has a Caregiver Support Coordinator available to assist you with enrolling in these programs. For help, contact your local Caregiver Support Coordinator using the Caregiver Support Coordinator search tool, or call the VA Caregiver Support Line, at 1-855-260-3274.
