Becoming a Veteran-Friendly School

The MVAA Veteran-Friendly Schools program recognizes Michigan postsecondary institutions and their efforts to support veterans. Schools are certified annually as Gold-, Silver-, or Bronze-level Veteran-Friendly Schools. Certified schools are featured on the Veteran-Friendly Schools Dashboard for prospective student veterans.

Schools approved to receive VA educational benefits can apply for Veteran-Friendly School certification. To begin the process now or to apply during the next application cycle, submit an Account Request Form.

Schools must be approved to receive VA educational benefits to apply for certification. Certification occurs annually and requires schools to submit an application. If your institution is not currently certified as a Veteran-Friendly School, you can begin the process now to apply during the next application cycle.

Military Transfer Credit Review

Faculty members responsible for evaluating transfer credit can find more information through the American Council on Education and the Community College of the Air Force. Additional resources are also available from the Multi-State Collaborative on Military Credit.

Student Veterans looking to connect with other veterans. Programs such as MVAA's Buddy to Buddy mentorship programStudent Veterans of America  and Peer Advisors for Student Education are available on many campuses across Michigan.
