Disability Compensation
If you have an injury or ailment that was a result of, or made worse by, your military service and you were discharged under other than dishonorable conditions, you may be entitled to disability compensation. The basic benefit amount ranges from $171.23 to more than $3,000.00 per month, depending on your level of disability and number of dependents. This is a tax-free benefit. Service Connected/Presumptive Conditions
The VA presumes that specific disabilities diagnosed in certain veterans were caused by their military service. VA does this because of the unique circumstances of their military service. If one of these conditions is diagnosed in a veteran in one of these groups, VA presumes that the circumstances of his/her service caused the condition, and disability compensation can be awarded. This list changes periodically, and we will make every effort to make updates as they arise. Learn more about Service Connected/Presumptive Conditions.
