Veteran’s Fishing Day is a way for SSFA to thank our Veterans for their service. The event consists of a day fishing on Lake Superior followed by a boat parade at Mattson Lower Harbor Park where Veterans show off their catch. The boat parade is escorted by the United States Coast Guard and Marquette County Sheriff’s Department. All fish caught during the event are cleaned and distributed equally to the veterans.
This event began in 2014 with 60 vets participating and 30 captains volunteering their boats and time. Participation has continued to grow every year and this in 2019 we set a record with 178 vets and 80 captains volunteering their boats.
If you have any questions please call 906-235-1847 or email South Shore at SSFAVetsday906@gmail.com.
