MVAA accepting applications for regional grants to better serve veterans
June 03, 2022
Grant funding totaling $30,000 will be available in $3,000 awards, one in each of the 10 Michigan prosperity regions, through the MVAA.
The grants are available to nonprofit organizations (501(c)3, 501(c)19, etc.), their selected fiduciary, or an established Michigan Veteran Community Action Team (VCAT), and established as a nonprofit organization, whose mission/purpose statement is to serve veterans in any capacity, to assist the MVAA in employing the “no wrong door” approach to reaching veterans and veteran-connected families, and to reduce barriers for education, health care, employment, quality of life and advocacy with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for connection to federal benefits.
Grant funding must be used to provide at least two professional networking opportunities for veteran service providers, advocates and program contributors to connect, share information, simplify connections with local resources, reduce duplication of effort and identify service gaps and disparities in a prosperity region. These are competitive grants and all Veteran Service Organizations are encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants must submit the Letter of Intent to Apply to be eligible to apply for FY23 MiVSONG funding. The letter does not bind an organization to any legal contract or obligation to apply but must be submitted to establish an organization as an eligible grant recipient.
Letters of Intent must be received at mvaagrants@michigan.gov no later than 5 p.m. EST on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.
A video informational meeting will be held Wednesday, June 8 from 3-4:30 p.m. EST. Please see the full timeline for more details.
We look forward to receiving your Letter of Intent to Apply. Questions may be sent to mvaagrants@michigan.gov.
