VFS program highlights academic institutions committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) has recognized 62 exceptional universities, colleges and trade schools for their unwavering dedication to improving experiences for military-connected learners and to fostering innovation in support of veterans. More information about the MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) program and the institutions honored for 2024 is available on the MVAA's Veteran-Friendly Schools (VFS) dashboard.
"We are proud to recognize these 62 veteran-friendly learning institutions for their exemplary commitment to supporting and empowering military-connected learners," said Brian L. Love, director of the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency. "Their dedication and efforts play a crucial role in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for veterans and service members, and we are grateful for their ongoing support."
The VFS program, created in 2015-16, recognizes academic institutions committed to supporting the needs of veterans and military-connected students. These institutions are awarded Gold-, Silver-, and Bronze-level status based on their veteran-centric services and programs. For 2024, 44 institutions received Gold status and, for the first time, a beauty school was accepted into the program.
Any academic institution or training facility in Michigan eligible to receive veteran education benefits can apply for the program. More information about the program, including application requirements, is available on the program dashboard.
