Conveniently Connect to Assistance during COVID-19
Veterans have earned their benefits. And for individuals or families struggling physically, emotionally or financially during the COVID-19 pandemic, we're making every effort to make these benefits easily available to you.
Although the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency is unable to accept visitors in Lansing at this time, we remain committed to serving veterans 24/7 through our toll-free hotline, 800-MICH-VET (800-642-4838) and additional programs.

COVID-19 Information and Programs
Buddy to Buddy Veteran Mentorship
Veterans, you're not alone. This MVAA initiative offers personal, one-on-one veteran mentorship to veterans of all eras and discharge types as well as individuals currently serving in the Michigan National Guard or Reserves who may not know where to find the resources they need or may be reluctant to ask for help. Volunteer Veteran mentors, called "Buddies," are on call throughout Michigan to help support veterans' needs and to link them to benefits and resources ranging from financial to employment, and from education to health care. Buddies can also connect their fellow veterans to advocates, such as Veteran Navigators, who can help with mental health and substance abuse issues.
Veteran Service Officers
Need assistance? Veteran Service Officers across the state are here to help. They'll help veterans determine eligibility and file for the federal benefits they earned for their service, including disability compensation. Call us at 1-800-MICH-VET to get connected with an accredited Veteran Service Officer near you.
Employment
The economic effects of COVID-19 have been widespread. But veterans can still find plenty of jobs in Michigan, including positions in law enforcement, the utility industry and at our own Michigan Veteran Homes. Through our work with Michigan's 400 Veteran-Friendly Employers and our partnerships with public and private organizations, we're working hard to connect our veterans with the right employment opportunities.
Check on MIVet
Veterans have earned their benefits, and we want to "check in" to make sure you're getting the most out of them. Our Check on MIVet program reaches out to veterans and connects them to any employment, education, healthcare or quality of life benefits?they might need during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
If you're a veteran, Guard or Reserve member, or the loved one of a veteran who would like to schedule a benefits "check in," click here.
