Public Act (PA) 184 of 2022 was signed into law on July 25, 2022. The law simplifies working after retirement rules for public school retirees.
Under the new law, public school retirees who have been retired at least nine consecutive months may return to work in any position at a public school with no effect on their pension or retiree healthcare benefits.
