2.07: Downloading and uploading secure files using FTS

ORS currently uses FTS for audit data, and attainment data (regarding members in the MIP 7% or Basic 4% plan who have attained 30 years of service and require changes to their member contribution rate as a result of the 2012 MPSERS reform). ORS will notify you (usually by email) when you need to download or upload a file using FTS.

How to download files

You may download files from two links on the FTS site:

  • Available: Files sent to your mailbox that have not been downloaded before. They remain on the FTS site for 14 days if not downloaded. After the file has been downloaded, it disappears from the Available section.
  • Downloaded: Files you have already downloaded from the Available page will appear here. They remain here for an additional four days if you need to download them again.
  1. Go to the File Transfer Service (FTS) website. Enter your username and password, then click Logon.

  1. The Available tab shows all files available. (To download a file that someone at your reporting unit downloaded within the past four days, click Downloaded.)

  1. Locate the filename to be downloaded, as provided in an email from ORS.
  2. Click the box next to the file you want to download.
  3. Click Download as Binary. A File Download dialog box will open.

  1. Navigate to the location on your computer where you would like to store the file.
  2. Click Save.

How to upload files

  1. Go to the FTS website. Enter your username and password, then click Logon.
  2. Click Upload Message to request an upload.
  3. Refer to the request email or document to complete the fields on the Upload Message screen.

Recipient: DMBORSER
ClassID: See file request
Transfer Mode: binary

File: See file request

  1. Click the Browse button to search your computer for the file to upload.
  2. After entering the information and selecting your file, click Upload.
NOTE: Do not click any button in the browser until the transfer is complete.
  3. Wait a few seconds for a lengthening horizontal bar to start moving across the bottom of your browser window. The bar shows the progress of your upload. Because the FTS doesn't know the size/speed of your upload, it is unable to estimate how long this will take.
  4. When the transfer is complete you will see a screen like the following screen. At this point you can resume using your browser normally.

  1. Record the confirmation number for your records.
  2. When finished, click Logout.
