Rules, Statutes, and Technical Assistance
Overview
Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers and Homes provide minimum standards for regulated child care providers. The Child Care Organizations Act (1973 PA 116) provides authority to establish these rules.
- Submit Rule Suggestions if you have ideas on how Child Care Licensing can make child care safer, healthier, or more educational, please submit a rule suggestion.
- Rule Violation Review Process may be started if a licensee does not agree with a rule violation(s) resulting from an investigation or inspection.

The Child Care Organizations Act (1973 PA 116) provides protection of children through the licensing and regulation of child care organizations; to provide for the establishment of standards of care for child care organizations; to prescribe powers and duties of certain departments of this state and adoption facilitators; to provide penalties; and to repeal acts and parts of acts.

Technical Assistance
Child Care Licensing provides a Technical Assistance and Consultation Manual on the Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers and the Licensing Rules for Family and Group Child Care Homes. The technical assistance manual contains recommendations and best practices for how providers can go beyond what the rule requires and improve the quality of care provided.
