Christine Beachler

Christine Beachler has been an educator with Lowell Area Schools for 38 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education from CMU and her MBA & MLIS Program Certification-Library Science Endorsement from GVSU.  Christine’s career in education began as an Accounting Teacher and for the past 25 years she has served as the Library Media Director & School Librarian in Lowell.  Christine’s passion for literacy and fostering a love of reading in students is her primary focus.  She works tirelessly to develop high quality, diverse, relevant, inclusive, and comprehensive library collections in all six of her school libraries. In 2025, Lowell High School’s Library was honored with an “Exemplary” distinction by the Library of Michigan SL21 Program.

Christine has been a member of the Michigan Association of School Librarians (MASL) for over 20 years serving in various leadership positions and is the 2025 MASL President.  In 2022, she was recognized by her MASL colleagues with the Roger Ashley Freedom to Read Award for demonstrating exemplary support for First Amendment rights. Christine was again honored by MASL in 2023 as District Library Director of the Year for providing exemplary leadership and direction to an overall district program. Finally, Christine was honored in 2023 as Kent District Library’s Literacy Champion award for having a positive impact on literacy and defending the right to read throughout all of Kent County.  Christine and her husband, Phil, also a lifelong teacher with Lowell Area Schools, live in Shelby.  They have two children, Kortney and Matthew, both graduates of Lowell.
