HELPFUL INFORMATION
“Whatever the combination of ingredients, something seems to happen at camp that makes the campers feel good about themselves, about others, and about the environment in which they live.”
Eleanor Eells. History of Organized Camping, 1986
The State of Michigan has regulated children camps since 1944. The current law PA 116 of 1973 as amended has the expressed purpose to provide for the protection of children through the licensing and regulation of childcare organizations and to provide for the establishment of standards of care for childcare organizations. Parents can use the information found within this website to find, explore, and evaluate children and adult camps within the state of Michigan.
