MVAA Veteran-Friendly Schools program breaks record with 68 post-academic institutions participating for 2025-2026 academic year
September 24, 2025
The VFS program awards gold, silver, or bronze-level status to colleges, universities, and training facilities that demonstrate exceptional dedication to meeting the unique needs of the veteran community. Recognition is based on a range of veteran-focused services, including dedicated resource centers, academic advising, peer-to-peer mentoring, and career readiness initiatives.
“With 68 schools recognized this year, the Veteran-Friendly Schools Program is stronger than ever,” said Joe Saur, MVAA education analyst. “This program is about investing in veterans and their families. By supporting service members as they return from active duty, Michigan continues to stand out as a leading state for veteran education.”
Any academic institution or training facility in Michigan that is eligible to receive veteran education benefits can apply for the program. The participation growth demonstrates a strong statewide commitment to making Michigan one of the most veteran-friendly states in the nation.
