MVAA veteran service officer now available at two Kent County locations
June 16, 2026

KENT COUNTY, Mich. – In an effort to expand access to veteran services, a Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) veteran service officer (VSO) is now available to assist veterans and their families at two locations in Kent County. U.S. Army veteran, Austin Ramey, is located at the Wyoming U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) and Trinity Health Grand Rapids.
“VSOs provide valuable guidance to veterans, their families and survivors as they navigate the VA benefits process,” said MVAA VSO manager Stefanie MacDonald. “Having Austin Ramey available at the Wyoming CBOC, in addition to Trinity Health, further enhances our ability to serve veterans in the Grand Rapids area and connect them with the benefits and services they have earned.”
Ramey joined the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) while attending Spring Arbor University. After graduating, he was commissioned by the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer before spending seven years in the service. Now, Ramey is a fully accredited VSO and has been with the MVAA for more than two years.
Accredited VSOs assist veterans and their families with applying for VA benefits they earned through their service to the nation. VSOs can also conduct benefits reviews to help ensure veterans are receiving everything to which they are entitled.
Committed to helping veterans, transitioning service members and their dependents navigate federal, state and local benefits, Ramey is accepting appointments at the below locations and times:
Trinity Health Grand Rapids
200 Jefferson Avenue SE
Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Wyoming CBOC
5838 Metro Way SW
Wyoming, MI 49515
Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“After my time serving, I was glad to find an opportunity to support fellow veterans,” said Ramey. “Whether a patient, family member or colleague, my office doors are open to anyone looking for guidance.”
If you are a service member, veteran or family member and need support, please contact the Michigan Veteran Resource Service Center at 1-800-MICH-VET (1-800-642-4838) to learn more about veteran benefits and resources. A full list of VSOs statewide is also available at Michigan.gov/VSO.
Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency – The MVAA is the central coordinating agency, providing support, care advocacy and service to veterans and their families.
