MiLEAP Summarily Suspends Two Child Care Center Licenses in Wayne County

The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) Child Care Licensing Bureau (CCLB) has summarily suspended and issued notices of intent to revoke the child care center licenses of 4K Learning Center-Southgate Inc., located at 11355 Reeck Road, in Southgate, and 4K Learning Center Detroit Inc., located at 19212 West Warren Avenue, in Detroit.

The complaint investigations that concluded on Oct. 28, 2024, found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules, including but not limited to the following:

  • Failure to act in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children

Effective 8 p.m., on Oct. 29, 2024, the summary suspension orders and notices of intent to revoke prohibits 4K Learning Center-Southgate Inc. and 4K Learning Center Detroit Inc. from operating a child care center at the aforementioned addresses, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, 4K Learning Center-Southgate and 4K Learning Center Detroit may not accept children for care after that date and time. The orders also require the licensees to inform all parents of children in its care that the license has been suspended and that it can no longer provide child care.

It was critical to take emergency action to protect the health, welfare and safety of the children at this child care center.
