Transportation Division
The Transportation Division represents the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) in litigation and administrative hearings. It also acts as general counsel to MDOT, including providing representation to commissions and authorities that oversee portions of MDOT’s work. Examples of the division’s work include:
- Tort litigation (exceptions to the Governmental Tort Liability Act)
- Contract litigation
- No-Fault litigation (recovery for damage to MDOT infrastructure)
- Eminent-domain litigation
- Employment litigation
- Administrative cases concerning outdoor advertising, driveways, and railroad crossings
- Representation to the State Transportation Commission, the Mackinac Bridge Authority, the International Bridge Administration, and the Michigan Aeronautics Commission
