Detroit Blight
The Department of Attorney General filed an enforcement action on behalf of the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy to ensure the City of Detroit complies with state and federal requirements to control asbestos when demolishing more than 40,000 blighted homes.
The case resulted in a settlement agreement in 2018 that requires the City to go above and beyond the state and federal requirements to help guarantee asbestos is removed and disposed of before homes are demolished.
