Hemlock Semiconductor earns MVAA Gold-level Veteran-Friendly Employer status

HEMLOCK, Mich.  – The Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA) awarded Hemlock Semiconductor (HSC) with the Gold-level Veteran-Friendly Employer (VFE) award, in Hemlock, Wednesday, Jan. 14. This honor recognizes their commitment to veteran recruitment, training and retention in their hiring practices.

“We are honored to be recognized as a Gold-level Veteran-Friendly Employer," said AB Ghosh, Corning vice president and general manager of solar and chairman and chief executive officer of HSC. "At HSC, we deeply value the skills, dedication and leadership that veterans bring to our workforce. This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for those who have served our country and ensuring they thrive in their careers with us.”

HSC joined MVAA’s VFE program at the Silver level in November 2023, demonstrating its commitment to supporting veterans, service members and their families through meaningful initiatives that promote connection, recognition and career advancement.

In December 2025, HSC advanced to Gold-level status in the VFE program. Over the past year, the organization launched its Veterans & Allies Employee Resource Group, enhanced veteran-specific onboarding practices, and actively participated in MVAA and community-based veteran events. These efforts reflect HSC’s commitment not only to hiring veterans, but to fostering their long-term success, engagement, and professional growth.

HSC regularly participates in veteran-focused hiring events across Michigan and is an active partner in the MVAA Michigan Veteran Connector program, helping ensure veteran employees are connected to the benefits they earned through military service. The organization has further expanded its veteran support initiatives by applying for GI Bill-certification for registered apprenticeships and career expansion programs, applying for SkillBridge approval through the U.S. Department of Defense, and formalizing both a veteran preference policy and a National Guard and Reserve Interview Promise Program.

Over the past year, HSC has maintained an impressive 88 percent retention rate among veteran employees—underscoring its dedication to leading by example and creating a workplace where veterans can thrive.
