Elections & Municipal Affairs (EMA) Division
The Elections & Municipal Affairs (EMA) Division principally represents the Michigan Department of State, the Secretary of State, the Board of State Canvassers, the Bureau of Elections, and Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules. The Division also frequently represents judicial branch agencies, including the Michigan Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Court of Claims, State Court Administrative Office, Attorney Discipline Board, Attorney Grievance Commission, Board of Law Examiners, and the Judicial Tenure Commission.
Additional duties include:
- Litigation for the legislature, as necessary
- Lobbyist issues
- Non-criminal election and campaign finance-related matters
- Municipal affairs
